The preparation of polyester polyols relies primarily on the esterification reaction, in which polyols and polyacids undergo dehydration condensation under heating and the influence of a catalyst. Common polyols include ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, and butanediol, while polyacids include adipic acid and phthalic acid. By controlling reaction conditions-such as temperature, pressure, and the type and dosage of the catalyst-key parameters like molecular weight, hydroxyl value, and acid value can be adjusted, thereby influencing the performance of the final product.

Polyester polyols are a class of important chemical raw materials widely used in fields such as polyurethane (PU) elastomers, coatings, adhesives, and foams. Produced through the esterification of polyols and polyacids, these polymers feature multiple hydroxyl (-OH) functional groups. These groups can react with compounds such as isocyanates (NCO) to form a polyurethane structure, imparting excellent elasticity, wear resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and superior physical-mechanical properties to the material.
